Meet The Plumb Squad: Licensed Plumbers Serving Chicago and the Suburbs

A water heater doesn't care that it's Sunday. Neither does a supply line behind a washing machine, or a floor drain that decides to back up an hour before your in-laws arrive. That's usually the moment somebody grabs a phone and starts searching for a plumber they've never called before, hoping the person who shows up is honest, licensed, and actually able to fix it today.

We built The Plumb Squad for that moment.

We're a family-run plumbing company working across Chicago and roughly 50 miles out into the suburbs — from the bungalow belt on the Northwest Side to La Grange, Oak Park, Berwyn, Naperville, Downers Grove, Evanston, Orland Park, Tinley Park, and the towns in between. Three partners, more than 30 years of combined experience in plumbing, construction, and real estate, and a pretty simple operating rule: quote the job before we start it, and leave the place cleaner than we found it.

What We Actually Do

Plumbing is a wide trade, so here's the plain-language version of where we spend our days.

  • 24/7 emergency plumbing

Burst pipes, sewage backups, no hot water, active flooding, a shutoff valve that won't shut off. These calls jump the line. If you're standing in water right now, turn off your home's main valve and call us at (312) 278-7900 — the reading can wait.

  • Drain cleaning and hydro jetting

Slow tubs, gurgling floor drains, a kitchen line that clogs every few months. Snaking clears the blockage; hydro jetting scours the pipe wall so the same clog doesn't rebuild in ninety days. Older Chicago homes with clay sewer laterals and mature trees out front tend to need the second one.

  • Water heater installation and repair

Tank and tankless, repair and full replacement. Most tanks in this area give up somewhere between year 8 and year 12, and they rarely fail politely. We'll tell you honestly whether yours has another season in it.

  • Fixture installs and replacements

Faucets, toilets, sinks, tub and shower valves, laundry hookups, outdoor spigots. Small jobs, done right, without the mystery invoice at the end.

  • Water softeners, filtration, and sump pumps

Chicagoland water is hard, and Chicagoland basements flood. A softener protects your fixtures and your water heater from scale. A properly sized sump pump with a battery backup protects everything you've stored downstairs. Both are unglamorous. Both save real money.

Who We Work For

After enough service calls, patterns show up. Five kinds of homeowners make up most of our week, and the plumbing problems track almost perfectly with the house.

  • Owners of older Chicago homes — bungalows, two-flats, and workers' cottages built between the 1920s and the 1950s. Galvanized supply lines, clay sewer laterals, cast iron stacks, and original shutoff valves that haven't turned in decades.

  • Suburban families in places like Naperville, Orland Park, and Downers Grove, in homes built from the 1980s onward. Here it's usually hard-water scale, a water heater hitting its expiration date, and drains under real daily load.

  • First-time buyers in Oak Park, Berwyn, La Grange, and Riverside, working through an inspection report and trying to sort the urgent items from the someday items. We're happy to help you triage that list honestly.

  • Small landlords with two-flats, three-flats, and small buildings around Evanston, Rogers Park, and the near suburbs. Your tenant calls you, you call us, and everybody needs it handled fast and documented.

  • Longtime residents and empty nesters in homes they've owned for thirty years, who mostly want a straight answer and no pressure to replace something that isn't broken.

If you didn't see yourself in that list, don't worry — we still take the call.

How We're Different From the Other Guys

We'll be direct: Chicago has genuinely good plumbing companies. Search for a plumber here and you'll run into well-reviewed outfits like Rescue Plumbing, Rocket Plumbing, and Suburban Plumbing Experts. They do solid work, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

What we compete on is scale, in the good sense. We're small enough that the person who quotes your job is connected to the person who does it. You're not passed through a call center or handed off to a rotating roster of subcontractors. You get upfront pricing before work starts, licensed and insured techs, and a company small enough to care about your review.

Where We Work

We cover Chicago proper and a roughly 50-mile service radius, including:

  • Chicago — North Side, Northwest Side, South Side, and the lakefront neighborhoods

  • Near west — Oak Park, Forest Park, River Forest

  • Western suburbs — La Grange, Western Springs, Brookfield, Riverside, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Elmhurst.

  • North Shore and north suburbs — Evanston, Skokie, Wilmette

  • Southwest suburbs — Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Palos Heights

Not sure whether you're inside the line? Just ask. If we can't get to you, we'll usually know someone who can.
